I suspect the reason for yield spiking may be due to following reasons:
(1) profligate treasury and Fed measures
(2) inflation spiking (not sure about it)
(3) increased business risk within the country.Â

Points 1 and 2 are correct, point 3 is not truly the case with the US which is the true "risk-free" asset. Believe if the US defaults nobody will be concerned about the value of their fiat money anymore since there won't be any and the whole modern financial system will implode miserably.
